Spiritual Programme Co-ordinator (SPC)

We are looking to recruit a committed, organised and compassionate person as a Spiritual Program Co-ordinator (SPC) to start as soon as possible.

Role

The SPC’s main responsibility is the co-ordination and management of the retreat programme along with supporting all spiritual activities at the centre. Other major responsibilities currently include responsibility for marketing, website maintenance and general communications.

However, Land of Joy takes a flexible approach to team working, and the specifics of the role will be discussed with the right candidate.

Experience (desirable)

  • Good knowledge of the FPMT tradition of study, practice, service and ethical conduct

  • Good management and interpersonal skills

  • A positive communicator, working harmoniously with others

  • Understanding of the general requirements of solitary and group retreat, reasonable knowledge of Lam Rim and Vajrayana/Tantra and other practices such as mindfulness, chi gong etc

  • Experience of facilitating retreats and/or meditation sessions

Qualities

  • Respect for Lama Zopa Rinpoche and familiarity with and respect for the FPMT organisation

  • Enthusiasm for Dharma and service to others

  • A good heart – patience, compassion, good listening skills and a sense of humour

  • Able to work effectively in a small team

  • Comfortable living in a communal setting in a rural location

Practical Information

  • All members of the Land of Joy team are volunteers. Board and lodgings (single room) and basic necessities are provided in line with the Land of Joy working agreements

  • All applicants must have a legal right to work in the UK

  • The role is co-appointed by Land of Joy and FPMT International Office

  • A detailed resume, both Dharma and professional
  • The names of two referees (with email address, phone number), preferably one spiritual and one professional
