We have exciting news!

Renovations of our coach house into a home for the very large Kurukulla statue have begun!

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who’s various types of generosity has enabled this project to happen. It’s just amazing to see dreams which once seemed so distant becoming a reality. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Paul, our fantastic builder, has shared that our Coach House renovations to build Kurukulla a home are one third finished already! The exciting progress has included opening up the area that will house the Kurukulla statue. It’s very exciting to suddenly see how spacious this precious room will be. Peter Griffin is planning for the statue to be in place some time in 2019, at which point Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s big vision will be fulfilled!

Other changes have included the floor of the upper rooms being dropped to maximise headspace which has made it possible to visualise the modest meeting/yoga space on the ground floor.

Despite the amazing progress we still need to raise more funds to complete the renovations. It’s not too late to help us finish this incredibly worthwhile project. A wonderful £5080 has been raised since the latest chapter of the campaign was launched, making the total raised £94,580. Wow! We therefore still require £25,000 to complete the renovation which includes three ensuite guest rooms.

Please help us if you can.

Why is it so Important?

Lama Zopa Rinpoche  kindly advised us to create this statue to enable Land of Joy to flourish and succeed as much as possible. The building complex will create space for a new gompa to house Kurukulla, additional single & twin roomed accommodation and a meeting room/extra practice space.

It will also….

  1. Increase our overall capacity, allowing more people to benefit from being here

  2. Provide single and twin rooms not currently available as an option while staying at the centre

  3. Offer much needed facilities for retreatants with mobility limitations

  4. Allow us to offer a programme of one day & weekend retreats, regular meditation sessions and other activities to the local community alongside our main programme

  5. Increase our ability to generate additional income through renting out the facilities for compatible events such as yoga or mindfulness retreats, something which is important for our long-term financial stability

The additional gompa (Kurukulla’s room) will…

  1. Provide a place for the Kurukulla to be housed. How wonderful to be able to fulfil the clear wishes of Lama Zopa Rinpoche!

  2. Offer an additional private space for meditation, puja and retreat for appropriate initiates

  3. Provide a place where further offerings can be made

What will be Inside?

The Ground Floor will have….

  • Two much needed single / twin rooms, one of which will initially be used as an additional practice space/meeting room to begin with.

  • Tibetan-style Kurukulla gompa

The First Floor will have

  • Two long awaited twin/single bedrooms with ensuite facilities!

How can you Help?

The completion of the Kurukulla building will help Land of Joy continue to grow and flourish and remove obstacles to enable us to benefit others as much as possible. We’re therefore encouraging donations of any size to help achieve our goal. Please use the ‘Donate Now’ button above to see how you can donate to this incredibly beneficial and powerful cause.

If money is difficult but you would still like to help, perhaps you might like to recite some mantras to remove obstacles and create lots of merit for the project to go ahead and be completed successfully. Please click here to find out more!

As a thank you…

As a thank you for donating to this project, you will be offered a tsa tsa of Kurukulla, made by the team at Land of Joy. These are very rare and will come from hand-sculpted moulds produced by Peter himself. He is known for his exquisite attention to detail, evident by the image below.

The benefits of holy objects are not only for those who interact with them but also for those who sponsor and create them. Lama Zopa Rinpoche has said:

“The final benefit is enlightenment. As many atoms a statue or stupa has, that many causes for enlightenment are created by the person who sponsors or makes that holy object.”

We invite you to join us in this virtuous project, creating the causes for enlightenment for all sentient beings.
