The story so far…
Land of Joy had a big vision to provide single and twin accommodation as well as a room to house the large Kurukulla statue Lama Zopa Rinpoche recommended we have here. We had a beautiful old coachhouse which could be lovingly renovated into the perfect space, but a lot of funds were required. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, this vision is becoming a reality and the renovations are now well underway.
In addition, the layout of our main house makes it very difficult for us to provide a private space for high lamas to stay while still accommodating others. If we can finish the coachhouse in time for Dagri Rinpoche’s visit (by the 15th July) its three ensuite bedrooms and communal room will provide a perfect private and contained space, separate to the main house for their use.
Right now, the tradesman are doing an incredible job of renovating the building which is ready to be painted. This means we are urgently starting to think about all the finishing touches required to transform it into a place for Dagri Rinpoche and his entourage to stay while with us in July.
For example, we need to fit the ensuite bathrooms; buy paint, flooring, blinds, beds etc to make it an ideal place for them to stay. Once Rinpoche has visited, the rooms will then become available for personal retreats or overflow accommodation during busier retreats.
