About the Retreat

This is the second weekend of our Intro to Tantra course based on the long sadhana composed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama ‘The Inseparability of the Spiritual Master and Avalokiteshvara’  that guides us through the merging of the the guru and the deity.

This Chenresig, Buddha of Compassion, practice is open to all Buddhists and a path that many take to begin their Tantra practice. There will be time for discussion and questions so that we can explore together how guru devotion works and how we can work with the deity in order to deepen our experience.

To help us do this as well as reciting the sadhana together we will be doing some gentle sessions of breathing exercises (pranayama) and simple chi gong movement to help us connect with the subtle energies in our bodies and enrich our experience of the sadhana.

About the Teacher

Lou has been practising and studying buddhism for many years and was fortunate to connect very early on with Chenrezig, the deity, who in our system represents great compassion which is at the very heart of our practice.Lou began her spiritual journey practising Hatha Yoga & was a teacher for some years. While on a pranayama retreat held at a Buddhist retreat centre she connected with Buddhism & the teachings.

A solitary at home practitioner for many years until she joined the FPMT, first at the Leeds centre attending teachings, studying online & later doing retreats & some voluntary work with us at Land of Joy. Here she began assisting Paula Chichester on some retreats until we finally encouraged her to lead one of her own! Lou tries to bring together mind and body practice with sutra study & meditation which is all at the heart of her tantra practice.

A Way to Say Thank You

As we don’t receive any subsidies from other organisations we rely solely on the kind generosity of others. Reclaim Gift Aid

Boost your donations by 25% at no cost to you! A Gift Aid declaration allows us to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I confirm I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Land of Joy will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When we receive a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
