About the Retreat
Investigate what “samsara” is and how we are stuck in it. Find out what “nirvana” is and how to achieve it. Develop the determination to be free from suffering and empower yourself with practical tools to deal with and eliminate disturbing emotions forever.
According to Buddhism, the best way to deal with difficult emotions is to acknowledge when they arise in our minds then work on transforming the state of mind they create into something positive. We can then avoid harming others and ourselves.
This retreat will include an explanation of the mind and emotions as well as introducing meditations for working on individual emotions in order to transform the mind to work towards achieving genuine peace and happiness.
Topics Covered:
- Explanations of the mind and emotions
-
General methods for dealing with difficult emotions
-
How to work with specific emotions
-
What contributes to the development of disturbing emotions
About the Retreat
How do we develop our compassion from just a well intentioned wish to something that can really be of benefit to others?
There are many different methods to do this in Buddhism, one of the most effective being Tantra and more specifically the practice of the buddha of compassion, Chenresig. This weekend will explore how tantra works, why it is so powerful and effective. Throughout the course we can come closer to the deity and therefore our own compassionate true nature.
We will use the Chenresig sadhana, which is perfect for learning the foundations of Buddhist practice, discussion, breathing exercises and simple chi gong movement to connect with the subtle energies in our bodies, so that we can begin to experience the sadhana at its deepest level. It is here that we truly connect with Tantric practice to train the mind with joy and ease and where its power can be harnessed for transformation.
About the Teacher

Lou has been practising and studying buddhism for many years and was fortunate to connect very early on with Chenrezig, the deity who in our system represents great compassion, which is at the very heart of our practice.
Lou has completed nine years of buddhist study online by completing three FPMT education programmes: The Foundation of Buddhist Thought, a two year course with Geshe Tashi; The Lam Rim, a two year course with Geshe Tashi and The Basic Programme, a five year FPMT course with Nalanda Monastery, France. Lou has also completed a number of retreats.
Lou has been closely connected to Land of Joy for many years, volunteering and leading retreats.
A Way to Say Thank You
As we don’t receive any subsidies from other organisations we rely solely on the kind generosity of others. Your generosity will help us continue to offer beneficial services to yourself and others.
