Format: Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we can currently only offer our group retreats via Zoom. This will continue until we are able to host them onsite once again. When this happens we hope to live stream the onsite retreats online so those who can’t make it to the centre can still join the retreat via Zoom. Therefore, please share how you would prefer to attend the retreat when you complete your booking form so we know how many people to expect on onsite if this becomes possible.
Start and Finish times: The workshop will begin at 9:30 on the 27th and finish at 16:30 on the 28th. People are welcome to arrive the day before and leave the day after if travelling long distances.
Accommodation: Shared and single rooms will be available at Land of Joy. Beds are allocated based on individual or logistical needs.

Building Inner Strength: 16 Guidelines for Life Level 1 (offered online or in person)
The 16 Guidelines provide practical tools for a more meaningful, fulfilled life based on universal ethical values. They help us change the way we experience the world, by transforming the way we think, act, relate to others and find meaning.
If you’re seeking mindfulness based tools to bring about positive change in your life, this experiential course is for you. By noticing our patterns of thinking, speaking and acting through mindfulness and self-enquiry, we can begin to build inner strength which enables us to break through limiting beliefs, transform our relationships, make better decisions, and find more peace of mind even on the most difficult of days.
Drawing on proven techniques from positive psychology, social justice practices, neuroscience and centuries-old Eastern philosophy, you’ll develop an ethical, holistic approach to self-improvement and cultural change.
In a relaxed, enjoyable and supportive environment you will learn practical daily exercises that will help you nurture your positive qualities, transform your everyday relationships, and reverberate in the world around you.
Beginners to the practices of mindfulness, meditation and emotional intelligence are welcome, and the course is particularly beneficial for individuals who want to take the techniques from 16 Guidelines and implement them in their home relationships, educational environment, community or workplace. 16 Guidelines can give you transferrable skills to create a cascade of impact, beyond just self-improvement.

About the Leader:

Wendy has 40 years experience working in education – as a teacher, university lecturer, education department advisor and consultant specialising in religious education and philosophical enquiry. This has provided her with skills and passion to develop, deliver and oversee training programmes. Wendy has been involved in the development of FDCW as a Board member since 2004 and as a Senior 16G Facilitator. She has worked in 5 very different Buddhist centres and was the director of Jamyang Buddhist Centre Leeds for over 7 years.
