About the Retreat

We are delighted to welcome back Liza Weber for her third Kum Nye Yoga retreat at Land of Joy. Her previous retreats have been well attended and received with much enthusiasm, offering participants a unique chance to experience this deeply nourishing Tibetan healing practice in a peaceful and supportive environment.

This retreat, “Tasting Kum Nye: Tibetan Yoga, Massage, and Visualisation”, introduces participants to a series of Tibetan yoga exercises and massage techniques that guide body and mind into a state of profound relaxation. Indeed, as the founder of the Nyingma Institute, Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche, explains, Kum Nye can bring about “a vital and lasting quality greater than the feeling of well-being.”

What to Expect

  • Gentle Kum Nye movements, breath awareness, and massage techniques to release tension
  • Visualisation practices enriched by the sacred symbolism of Tibetan Buddhist iconography
  • Spacious daily sessions that balance guided practice with rest and reflection
  • Guidance that honours Tarthang Tulku’s teaching that there is no single or ‘right’ way to practise
  • A welcoming environment suitable for both beginners and experienced yogis

Who Is This For?

In this retreat, Kum Nye is understood as a yoga of the mind as much as of the body. The emphasis is not on physical ability—you do not need to be able to touch your toes—but on touching the subtle sensations and feelings that arise. Through this process, we begin to soften habitual patterns, open inner space, and reconnect with a sense of ease and wholeness.

Whether you’re completely new to Kum Nye or already have some experience and would like to go deeper. It’s especially for those who are looking for rest, balance, and renewal through gentle yoga, massage, and guided relaxation. You’ll also have the chance to discover Tibetan healing practices in a way that’s practical, supportive, and nourishing.

Why Attend?

By joining this retreat, you’ll give yourself the gift of slowing down and reconnecting with your body and mind. Surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquility of Land of Joy, the gentle yet powerful practices of Kum Nye can help you to:

  • Release tension and cultivate a deep sense of relaxation.
  • Restore energy, balance, and emotional well-being.
  • Develop greater awareness of your body, breath, and inner experience.
  • Carry a lasting sense of calm and clarity back into your daily life, supported by the peaceful retreat environment.

Take time out in a peaceful, welcoming environment to truly recharge whilst being guided step by step by an experienced and much-loved teacher within a caring retreat community.

Retreat Boundaries:

During the retreat, we invite you to

  • Respect quiet and reflection – Silence and calm support deep relaxation, focus, and the benefits of Kum Nye practice. It gives everyone space to turn inward and fully experience the retreat.
  • Be present – Engaging fully in the sessions helps you get the most from the practices, and encourages a shared sense of energy and participation within the group.
  • Honor personal space and community – Treating others kindly and caring for your own needs ensures a safe, welcoming environment where everyone can feel comfortable and supported.
  • Keep the retreat environment safe and supportive – A smoke-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free space helps maintain physical and emotional wellbeing, and confidentiality creates trust so participants can share and explore freely.

About Liza Weber

Dr Liza Weber is a Buddhist practitioner who specialises in “Kum Nye” Tibetan yoga and healing practices, as well as the art of Tibetan Buddhist iconography.

Having completed the Nyingma Institute Kum Nye Teacher Training Programme, and trained under the master thangka painter, Andy Weber, Liza brings together her knowledge and experience of sacred movement and imagery to deliver classes and courses that, with playful curiosity, explore the wellspring of the “energy body”.

Her teaching is motivated by the wish to remind yoga of its roots as an aid for meditation, first and foremost, and the joy to be discovered therein.

A Way to Say Thank You

To Land of Joy…

Our generosity model means we do not charge for any teachings, accommodation or food. We are therefore 100% dependant on donations to help us cover our £90,000 a year running costs.

You are therefore invited to give what you can as a thank you for the organisation and hosting of the retreat, including the food and accommodation provided if you stayed onsite.

You may also like to make a regular contribution to the centre by becoming a Branch of Joy. This kind of support gifts us a steady and ongoing income, which in turn provides the confidence and means for us to continue to flourish for many years to come.

Everything given will ensure Land of Joy continues to be offered as a precious place for retreat.

To The Teacher…

Teachers and retreat leaders practice generosity by freely offering their time to Land of Joy. We cover their travel expenses but do not pay them for the teachings they give.

You are therefore invited to make an offering to the teacher as a thank you for the time and knowledge they share.

To The Volunteers…

Our retreats are supported by our wonderful team of volunteers, some of whom you will meet during your time at the centre. Those who live onsite offer their time, expertise and dedication in return for food and accommodation. They do not receive a wage or stipend. Unfortunately, we are only able to accept offerings for them in cash, so if you would like to thank them for their service, please do so by bringing cash with you to the centre and placing it in the volunteer collection pot.
