General Volunteers: 2–3 months
We are looking to recruit committed, enthusiastic and compassionate people as General Volunteers to assist our longer-term on-site team members.
People in this role are essential to ensure the smooth running of the centre. If beneficial, there are opportunities to extend general volunteering beyond 3 months.
General Volunteers assist with the following depending on centre needs and aptitude:

Cleaning retreat accommodation and communal areas

Food preparation
-
General maintenance
-
Gardening and helping in the woodland when time allows

Support to retreat preparation
Qualities/skills required:
-
Able to work effectively in a small team and follow instructions
-
Flexible and adaptable to what the centre needs
-
Comfortable living in a communal setting in a rural location
-
Good spoken and written English
-
Able to legally work in the UK
-
Respect for the FPMT organisation and willingness to live by the five precepts whilst at Land of Joy

A sense of humour

DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Checks at Land of Joy
To ensure a safe environment and in line with our safer recruitment policy, Land of Joy requires DBS checks based on role type:

Retreat Leaders & Long-term Volunteers (3+ months): Basic DBS check

Family Retreat Workers (with children present): Enhanced DBS check with Barred List

Trustees: DBS checks as required for governance roles
