General Volunteers: 2–3 months

We are looking to recruit committed, enthusiastic and compassionate people as general volunteers to assist our longer term on-site volunteers.

People in this role will work closely with our Housekeeper, Cook, Woodland & Wildlife Manager and Grounds/Maintenance Manger to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

They will help with the following depending on what’s happening at the centre:

  • Cleaning retreat accommodation and communal areas

  • Food preparation

  • Some gardening and helping in the woodland when time allows

Qualities/skills required:

  • Able to work effectively in a small team and follow instructions

  • Flexible and adaptable to what the centre needs

  • Comfortable living in a communal setting in a rural location

  • Good spoken and written English

  • Able to legally work in the UK

  • Respect for the FPMT organisation and willingness to live by the five precepts whilst at Land of Joy

  • A sense of humour
