General Manager

We are looking to recruit a committed, organised and compassionate person as a General Manager to start as soon as possible.

We would ask for a commitment of 6 – 12 month. There will be a 3-month probationary period.



The General Manager’s main responsibilities are the coordination and management of the on- and off-site team along with the organization and supervision  of estate related projects at the centre. Other major responsibilities currently include IT support for the Director and the Spiritual Programme Coordinator (SPC).

However, Land of Joy takes a flexible approach to team working, and the specifics of the role will be discussed with the right candidate.


Experience (desirable)

  • Ability to self-sufficiently plan, prepare and process various estate related projects

  • Convincing IT skills are essential for everyday work

  • Skilled in DIY

  • Very good team organizational and interpersonal skills

  • A positive communicator, working harmoniously with others and being able to guide and mediate the team and individuals as needed

  • Being comfortable to temporarily substitute in different working positions if needed



  • Respect for Lama Zopa Rinpoche and familiarity with and respect for the FPMT organisation

  • Enthusiasm for Dharma and service to others

  • A good heart – patience, compassion, good listening skills and a sense of humour

  • Able to work effectively in a small team

  • Comfortable living in a communal setting in a rural location

  • All members of the Land of Joy team are volunteers. Board and lodgings (single room) and basic necessities are provided in line with the Land of Joy working agreements
